# Groups (/docs/people/groups)

Groups are what your events belong to beyond one player, such as a clan, a guild or a party. They let you ask group-level questions: *how many clans were active this week?* or *do players in a clan come back more often?*

Attach events to a group with the `$groups` property. See [Players and properties](/docs/getting-started/identify#groups-clans-guilds-parties).

## Group pages [#group-pages]

Each group type gets its own entry under **People**, such as **Clans**. You don't need any setup: the page appears as soon as an event uses that type. It lists every group with its key, its most common properties, and when it was created. Search matches the key or the group's `name`.

**Rename** changes how the type is shown, for example *Guild* / *Guilds*. Your code keeps sending the original name (`clan`).

## A group's page [#a-groups-page]

Click a group to open it:

- **Stats**: people with activity in the group, total events, last seen and created.
- **People**: the people who were most recently active in it, linked to their profiles.
- **Event timeline**: every event attached to the group.
- **Properties**: what you sent with `groupIdentify()` or `$groupidentify`.

Click the ★ to pin a group to your sidebar, such as the top clan.

People belong to a group because they sent events in it, so one player can appear in several clans over time.
